Award Highlights BTCA Approach

Ballet Theatre of Carmel Academy (BTCA) was named the Indianapolis-area “Favorite Arts Educator” by KidsOutAndAbout.com. The website surveyed its readers to determine winners in six categories.

“Just fantastic,” says Jane Hachiya-Weiner, Co-Artistic Director of BTCA. “It was a shock in a very good way. It feels so good to see BTCA recognized.”

“It’s a credit to everyone involved, especially the older students and faculty,” says Hachiya-Weiner. “They set the tone. We’re here to make it fun even as we hold our performance to a high standard.”

BTCA presents “The Nutcracker” this December at the Dale E. Graham Auditorium at Carmel High School. BTCA dancers also give various performances in the community, including an upcoming Nora Library Storytime on September 24, as well as the Carmel International Arts Festival, September 28 and 29.

Ballet Theatre of Carmel Academy offers a pre-professional ballet program and trains students ages 3 to high school in ballet, jazz, and contemporary dance. All instruction incorporates the American Ballet Theatre® National Training Curriculum. BTCA is a non-profit 501(c) 3 organization.

KidsOutAndAbout.com started in 2001. Tech consultant and expecting parent Debra Ross thought there should be a place for parents to find events in the community oriented toward families and children. KidsOutAndAbout.com now has 36 regional sites across the United States and Canada.
