Celebrate the Golden Age of Ballet with Ballet Theatre of Carmel Academy’s Enchanted Tales!

Tales of love, beauty, and magic will grace the stage in three acts as BTCA pays tribute to ballet icons Sergei Diaghilev, Mikhail Fokine, Anna Pavlova, and the 1910 “Paris Season” that would bring ballet into a new era!

This performance will feature The Firebird, a one-act ballet set to Stravinsky’s powerful and complex music and Fokine’s innovative choreography. Audiences will be transported into the mystical realm of folklore, and the legend of the title character — a powerful good spirit endowed with magical feathers who helps the heroic Prince Ivan Tsarevich rescue his beloved princess from Kashchei, the evil sorcerer.

Enchanted Tales will also include Les Sylphides, a romantic reverie set to music by Chopin in which ethereal woodland sylphs dance in the moonlight with a young gentleman poet; and a tribute to legendary ballerina Anna Pavlova with adaptations of some of her most famous roles — “The Dragonfly”, “The Dying Swan” and “La Peri”.

This triple bill highlights talented dancers from all levels of BTCA’s pre-professional performing company and our “Be A Fairy” community program, as well as special guest artists Erica Lohman (American Midwest Ballet Theatre/BTCA alumna), Emmanuelle Hendrickson (Colorado Ballet Studio Company/BTCA alumna), Aram Hengen (Indiana University Jacobs School of Music, Opera & Ballet Theatre), and Mr. James Cramer (formerly of Ballet Internationale).

USBs of the performances, On Demand viewing, and other items are for sale on our ticketing site or our online shop.

“Les Sylphides is the ballet that inspired me to be a ballerina.”
– Jane Hachiya-Weiner, BTCA Artistic Director
