Boys and girls ages 5-8 can be an Angel in BTCA’s production of The Nutcracker! This is a fun way for your child to participate in The Nutcracker—Tchaikovsky’s timeless ballet and a holiday favorite. There is only a two-month time commitment and no prior dance experience is required.

Dancers will participate in the Angel scene in The Nutcracker at the beginning of Act II. Each dancer will perform in 2 of our 4 performances. Dancers will learn basic ballet technique and enjoy a unique performance experience. This is a good choice for children considering adding ballet as a new activity, as well as for BTCA’s Joy of Dance, Creative Dance, Pre-Primary and Preparatory level students.

Rehearsal Schedule*
  • Fridays, 5:00-6:00pm, beginning October 20, 2023
  • No rehearsal on Friday, November 24 due to Thanksgiving
  • Dress Rehearsals (each dancer will be called to one Saturday dress rehearsal and one mandatory dress rehearsal):
    • Dress Rehearsal #1 – Saturday, December 2, 1:00-4:00pm; Fitness by Design Studios
    • Dress Rehearsal #2 – Saturday, December 9, 1:00-4:00pm; Fitness by Design Studios
    • Dress Rehearsal #3 (Mandatory) – Wednesday, December 13, 5:00-9:30pm; STAR Bank Performing Arts Center (subject to change)
    • Dress Rehearsal #4 (Mandatory) – Thursday, December 14, 5:00-9:30pm; STAR Bank Performing Arts Center (subject to change)

Your dancer will not be needed for the entire span of the dress rehearsals; their committed time will not exceed 90 minutes per rehearsal. A more detailed breakdown of specific rehearsal times will be available at a later date.

Performances*

Performances are at STAR Bank Performing Arts Center, Zionsville (subject to change):

  • Friday, December 15 at 7:30pm
  • Saturday, December 16 at 2:00pm
  • Saturday, December 16 at 7:30pm
  • Sunday, December 17 at 2:00pm

Fees

The total Be An Angel program fee is $180. This fee covers seven weeks of rehearsal, dress rehearsals, costume rentals, and production fees. Students provide dance shoes and rehearsal attire.

Required Attire

This attire is provided by the student and intended for use in rehearsal. The program fee covers performance costumes provided by BTCA.

Girls’ uniform:

  • Pink tights
  • Pink ballet flats
  • Hair in a bun
  • Chiffon skirt optional

Boys’ uniform:

  • White dance shirt
  • Black tights
  • White/black ballet flats
