Thank you parents, faculty members and PE Dance Theatre Inc for your support of our young emerging artists!Thank you to Indianapolis City Ballet for sponsoring theYouth America Grand Prix Indianapolis Semi Finals 2012!Ballet Theatre of Carmel at Performer’s Edge Hosts the Youth America Grand Prix Master Classes for the Second time !Friday, March 9th, 2012As the Youth America Grand Prix Competition returns to Indianapolis for only the second time in 2 years, over 500 local and regional ballet students from across the Midwest and as far away as British Columbia, Canada, are gearing up for an exciting and competitive weekend. For students at Ballet Theatre of Carmel at Performer’s Edge, that also means that hundreds of dancers will be leaping and pirouetting on their studio’s floor as they host the event’s Master Classes for the second year in a row on Sunday, March 11. “We are pleased and honored to welcome the master teachers and participating students to our studios. We hope that it will be a day filled with inspiration!” says Ballet Theatre of Carmel Artistic Director Jane Hachiya-Weiner. The 18,000+ square foot facility at Performer’s Edge in Carmel will host the upper level YAGP Master Classes, while the younger dancers will attend classes at the Indiana Ballet Conservatory nearby. Because of the support and underwriting efforts of the Indianapolis City Ballet, the city of Indianapolis was added as a YAGP semi-final location again this year. The 2-day event will take place at Zionsville High School on March 9-10. While this is BTC’s second year participating in the competition, Hachiya-Weiner maintains that dance education is often more important than competing. “BTC and YAGP both share the same goals of educating young dancers in the best way possible.” Hachiya-Weiner is an ABT® Affiliate Teacher, who has successfully completed the ABT® Teacher Training Intensive in Primary through Level 3 of the ABT® National Training Curriculum and has successfully presented students for examinations. “We are very excited that 15 of our students have an opportunity to be part of such a prestigious event,” says Hachiya-Weiner. “Although ballet is ultimately a performing art and not a competitive sport, I believe that the futures of all the YAGP competitors throughout the world just got brighter due to their involvement with YAGP.” For further information visit:?Youth America Grand Prix – www.yagp.org Indianapolis City Ballet – www.IndianapolisCityBallet.org (underwriting sponsor)?Ballet Theatre of Carmel – www.BalletTheatreOfCarmel.org (host studio – Master Classes)Indiana Ballet Conservatory – www.indianaballetconservatory.org (host studio – Master Classes)

Young ballet dancers from Carmel, Fishers, Westfield, Greenwood, and Northern Indianapolis take another bold step with American Ballet Theatre® National Training Curriculum Examinations. In two short years after implementation, Performer’s Edge remains the only school in the state of Indiana to pursue ABT’s examination process! Last year 14 dancers and 1 certified teacher were involved. This year, 38 dancers and 2 certified teachers are standing in the spotlight. Mr. Franco De Vita, Principal of the Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis School, the official School of the American Ballet Theatre located in New York City, returns for a second year in a row. Mrs. Nataly Lowder, Director of Ballet Programs at Performer’s Edge and the Artistic Director of the Ballet Theatre of Carmel is an Affiliate Teacher and Certified Teacher of the American Ballet Theatre® National Training Curriculum in levels primary through level 7. She will be presenting dancers in ABT levels 4A and 5A. Mrs. Jane Hachiya-Weiner, Associate Artistic Director, Ballet Theatre of Carmel, is a Certified Teacher of the American Ballet Theatre® National Training Curriculum in levels primary through level 3. She will be presenting dancers in ABT levels 3A and 3B. The American Ballet Theatre has been designated by The United States Congress as America’s National Ballet Company ® In creating its National Training Curriculum, ABT assembled a Medical Advisory Board to collaborate with ballet instructors in order to provide medical guidelines for the healthy and sound training of dancers. Preserving the best aspects of the tried and true methodologies of ballet training developed globally throughout the last 4 centuries, ABT brought these methodologies into the modern day to meet the technical requirements of 21st century ballet while preserving the traditions of the past. “This examination process is so good for the dancers, the school, and us as teachers,” stated Nataly Lowder. “It’s much like getting ready for an AP academic final. The focus and intensity are very similar. We are looking forward to the examination this weekend, Saturday May 14th.”
